Quick Overview

A krama is a traditional Cambodian garment which has many uses. It can be a headband, bandana, skirt, scarf, temporary replacement for pants, and so much more. These kramas are made by Kakeda Sun.

Product Description

Next to the Angkor, the krama scarf is arguably one of Cambodia's most recognized national symbols. Light, versatile, and yet densely interwoven for formidable strength, the krama exceeds definition as a clothing item. Ubiquitous throughout the countryside and cities, the krama is a unisex checked swatch of fabric with limitless function and worn in a myriad of ways, whether wrapped around the face for protection against the elements, as torso sling for a baby, or a sarong for countryside bathers.

Kramas are sold throughout local marketplaces in Cambodia, with different sellers offering patterns varied for individual taste, although blue/white and red/white checked patterns often a common sight. While a national symbol, they are also a highly individual sartorial choice, reflecting the particular color preferences of the wearer and maker. With this in mind, Kakeda Sun's woven kramas reflect a sampling of the variety of kramas one might see in Cambodia, available in classic blue, red, and two unique blends of woven orange and woven green.

Kakeda's kramas are made from a cotton polyester blend.

Actual colors may vary from the image seen.
